Providing a unique, positive education for young people with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum

Focused on building life skills and educational achievement to give young people a greater chance of living more independently when they leave, our two schools are delivering very positive outcomes for their learners.

60% of learners were school ‘refusers’ before they joined us, but now across our secondary classes we have an attendance rate of 92%.

Our approach with each learner is to have a plan for them which helps their social and emotional wellbeing, build the capability to live independently, like doing their own washing, cooking and looking after themselves.  Finally we want them to leave with not only the confidence and aptitude to get on with others but tangible qualifications and skills that help them get a job.

Studying Drama and Music at St John’s College for 3 years, with work experience and a residential placement included.

Part of the Harrington Project, undertaking horticulture, art and work experience for 2 years.

Studying Drama at Northbrook College for 2 years.

Toby - July 2013

Studying at Westminster SN College for 2 years, with the second year including travel training commencing September 2014.
